FAQ

FAQ

  • What time should I arrive?

First time clients should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early as I have an intake form for you to fill out and we will go over it all together before your session starts. Generally clients can arrive five minutes early to give us time to check in with each other and set an intention for the session. This allows for you to get the full amount of time you booked spent on actual bodywork!

  • Do you work with insurane?

I do not bill insurance companies directly but I can offer you a receipt of the services provided, along with the medical codes that you can submit to your insurance to see if they will reimburse you. Some insurance companies are starting to cover chiropractic and massage services, others will allow you to use your flex spending account or reimburse you so contact your insurance and ask about what’s covered.

  • Do you only work with women?

The majority of my client base is women and I’ve found that my knowledge and skill set has been best utilized on women as I can relate to them and support them better. However I do accept male clients through a referral basis only. Referrals must come from my current clients, or medical practitioners.

  • Do you offer pregnancy massage?

Yes absolutely! It is actually safe to get a massage during all stages of pregnancy, pre and post pregnancy also. Pillows are used and positioning on the table is different from a traditional massage but there are many benefits to getting a massage during this special time in your life. Just be sure to let me know when you book that you are pregnant so that I can be fully prepared for you with the proper set up when you come in for your session.

  • Do you do deep tissue massage?

I personally feel like clients haven’t been well educated on how bodywork can be the most effective and it’s not always with a no pain, no gain mindset. If feeling pain is your expectation and desire in getting a massage then we probably won’t be a good fit but I can refer you to a different therapist. That being said, I have been able to provide firm enough pressure to meet the needs of most of my clients that I work with. I tend to have a gentler approach and allow your body to relax first and open up on its own. This allows me to sink in and do deeper work with more pressure when your body is ready for it rather then forcing it and causing more harm then good.

  • Does massage hurt?

Your massage doesn’t have to hurt to be effective. If you come in with sore spots, injuries and chronic pain already then it will likely be uncomfortable while I’m working on those areas but it should never be extremely painful. If you find yourself tensing up, holding your breath or feeling pain please tell me right away. I never want to have a client in pain on my table! I often tell my clients that my goal is to get you as relaxed as possible first, then I allow your body to guide me where to work and how much pressure is needed to have lasting effective bodywork.

  • Do I have to take my clothes off?

No, that is entirely up to you and your comfort level. Typically clients will remain in their underwear or be completely nude. You will be draped with a sheet the entire time I’m working on you and only the areas that I’m working on will be undraped. I will ensure that you always feel safe and secure during your session. I also encourage you to speak up if anything is uncomfortable for you and we will quickly adjust things so that you can relax and feel better.

  • I’m self conscious about ….(insert insecurity here)…

It’s okay, I’ve seen it all. I’m not here to judge you or critique you. I’m here to help support you in feeling better, so please take a deep breath, you’re beautiful and you’re going to love your massage!

  • What kind of oil and lotion do you use?

For most of my services I use Massage FX lotion, it is an unscented lotion and has ingredients such as ivy, arnica, aloe and almond to provide moisture to the skin while stimulating circulation. I have found it to not be as oily or greasy as other massage oils can be. I also use grapeseed or coconut oil for different sessions that may include cupping or the hot oil scalp massage.

  • Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes! You can purchase an online gift card that will be emailed to you through this website, just click the link for gift cards at the bottom of the page.

If you would like a physical gift card, please email or call me to arrange pick up.

  • What kind of payment do you accept?

I accept both cash and cards for payment. Cash is preferred as there's no services fees, it helps keeps the money flowing throughout small businesses in our local town rather then going to big corporate banks and you never have to worry about card reader malfunctions or losing internet signal when you pay with cash!

  • Should I tip?

Tipping is not expected but greatly appreciated. I have set my prices to value the work I do and to provide for my son and I and thus I do not rely on or expect tips. If it’s your nature to be a giver and offer a tip of appreciation then it will be accepted with a grateful heart.

  • I’m sick, should I keep my appointment?

If you’re running a fever or feel awful, yes please cancel or reschedule. If you’re getting over an illness and you’ve gone 72 hours without a fever and without symptoms then please reach out to me to confirm but most likely I will still allow you to come in as it may help to speed up your recovery time too.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

I require a 24 hour notification prior to your scheduled appointment to cancel or reschedule your massage. If notification is given within less then 24 hours then you will be charged 50% of your service and unable to book another service until that is paid.

  • What can I expect for a mobile massage?

When you book a mobile massage I will contact you ahead of time to discuss the layout of the room you've designated for the massage.

    • Minimum 10x12 foot space.

    • Access to an electrical outlet.

    • You will want to minimize noise and distractions from pets and other family members.

    • I'll need an additional 15 minutes before and after your scheduled appointment to set up and take down my equipment.

IMPORTANT: Payment for mobile massage will be done in advance upon booking and cancellations will not be refunded due to the amount of travel time, and time reserved to fulfill a mobile massage appointment. If you do need to cancel your appointment, you'll have ONE opportunity to reschedule, if it's canceled again you will lose the opportunity to reschedule and will not be refunded for the session. If I have to cancel the appointment for any reason, you will have the option to reschedule or receive a refund for the session.
